Kilcoy Global Foods (KGF) is seeking a Livestock Labourer to join our Stockyards Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible in a combination of roles of cattle handling from point of entry into Stockyards to entry to the Knocking Box. This is a permanent position and will be based on KPC’s Green/Gold lifestyle roster, which includes weekend work.

This will include low-stress handling of cattle in-line with Animal Welfare protocols, including but not limited to;

  • Stock movements through the yards system
  • Unloading and washing of cattle
  • Presenting cattle to the Slaughter Floor in an appropriate manner
  • Ensuring quality drinking water is available for stock at all times
  • Undertaking appropriate training, including but not limited to, animal welfare
  • Monitoring and reporting of any inconsistencies, including but not limited to, stock received verse documentation, animal health issues, especially when unloading stock, etc.

 The ideal candidate would bring; 

  • Demonstrated well rounded experience in the humane and effective low stress handling of cattle.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Animal Welfare and presentation standards.
  • Ability to promote and drive a positive OH&S culture.
  • Demonstrated ability in moving stock without creating undue stress.
  • An understanding of maintaining correct groupings/lots per the processing schedule.
  • Ability to liaise with on-site Vet.
  • Proof of current gun licence, and demonstrated experience in the safe and effective use of a weapon would be highly regarded.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
