Payroll Officer

We are looking for a Payroll Officer to deliver end to end payroll processing activities for the organisation, based at our Kilcoy site. You will be a part of the Human Resources Department, with a functional reporting line to the Payroll Manager.

This is a 12-month Maternity Leave contract working Monday to Friday.


  • Drive a solutions-focused approach for payroll, based on industrial and organisational compliance to ensure risks are mitigated for legal exposure
  • Execute a consistent approach to managing payroll and production enquiries across the business
  • Respond proactively to payroll enquiries, providing solutions based on industrial instruments and their practiced application, seeking direction when required
  • Liaise with employees, Managers and Supervisors on payroll activities that need to be undertaken in their role
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other members of the HR team and across the organisation
  • Develop and produce reporting from payroll systems, as required
  • Maintain efficient and reliable keeping of payroll documentation and record keeping in line with organisational policies and procedures and legal requirements
  • Perform payroll associated documentation and reporting functions, such as separation certificates, payment summaries, statements of employment etc.
  • Produce accurate pay runs, through effectively transacting, calculating, checking, producing EFT file and close off and timely post payroll activities
  • Remain up to date with current payroll/ production knowledge and related legislation and participate in professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to the implementation of efficiencies across the payroll function and undertake process improvements 


To succeed in this role, you’ll need to bring the following experience and qualifications:

  • Experience in high-volume, blue-collar Payroll processing
  • Chris and iChris experience desirable
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Kronos experience desirable
  • Knowledge of the Fair Work Act and experience in its application
  • Proven ability to accurately interpret and apply Enterprise Bargaining Agreement pay and condition pay structures
