Financial Controller

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven and confident Financial Controller to manage our organisation's financial performance and direct our accounting operations.

Your financial control,  planning and exceptional numerical proficiency as a Financial Controller will aid our organisation in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing  internal controls, achieving organisational targets, and developing financial plans that support the finance and wider organisational strategies.

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organised, and have excellent leadership skills. The Financial Controller should streamline our accounting functions and operations, lead the team to provide financial analysis and reports, inspire and train the team on business finance issues for commercial application, promote regulatory compliance and drive profitable growth.

You will report directly to the Australian Chief Financial Officer and will lead financial accounting and management reporting, tax, transaction processing, audit, finance projects and systems workstreams. This role is part of the Australian Finance Leadership Team.


  • Leadership and the ongoing development of the Finance and Accounting division.
  • Improving processes, systems and internal controls to increase efficiency in line with growth in the business
  • Compliance with key finance and accounting laws and regulations
  • Reporting and trend analysis on the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow at the Australian operating entity level and at the Consolidated Australian Group level at the Executive level including preparation of briefing packs to Directors
  • Cost control at the Plant operational and Corporate levels.
  • Manage external party relationships including insurance brokers, bankers, external auditors, group internal audit teams and tax authorities.
  • Drive income generation and monitor effectiveness of expenditure
  • Maintain the chart of accounts in the General Ledger including manuals and process maps for key accounting functions to ensure they are up-to-date.
  • Ensure teams are reporting on time and are accurate including preparation of board reports and internal briefing papers as required.
  • Review existing finance, accounting and reporting practices and subsequent recommendations for continued improvement, efficiency, and resilience.
  • Manage accounting records, evaluating risk and ensuring compliancy with statutory regulations


You will need to be genuinely inspired and interested in providing non-compromising demand for accuracy and care in addition to providing strategic financial guidance and management in an FMCG or manufacturing environment. It is a hands-on leadership position that will also require you to contribute to the future of an already successful business.

  • Experience working as a Financial Controller or similar, preferably in a dynamic manufacturing or even better a Primary Beef processing business.
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting/Commerce/Finance.
  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • MBA highly desirable.
  • 15+ years accounting experience, including recent experience in a similar level role within a commercial environment.
  • Prior specialisation in taxation, financial reporting and/or audit.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading and managing an operational team and a practical understanding of contemporary people management practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations.
