Value Add Mechanical Fitter / Lead

The maintenance department is looking at appointing a specialised, skilled tradesperson who, together with the production team, will ensure sustained reliability and flexibility of all equipment related to this rapidly growing side of the business.

  • Full time role .
  • Monday to Friday Roster 
  • Extra shifts available
  • 4 weeks annual leave 

This is a full-time, day shift position, working on a Mon/ Fri roster. 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Be engaged in both preventative and break down maintenance, but a strong focus on moving to a more preventative approach through improved systems, procedures and maintenance.
  • Liaise closely with the production team on a daily basis to optimise the performance of all VA and related equipment.
  • Lead all maintenance and reliability of the VA equipment ensuring strong communication with other maintenance shift staff to ensure continuity.
  • Assist in capital and continuous improvement projects. 
  • Strong focus on safety, health and environment
  • Understand the urgent nature of the business and the importance of troubleshooting and urgent repairs of all typical VA and related equipment.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with contractors as well as other departments related to the sustained optimised operation of this fast moving and dynamic section of the factory.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Mechanical aptitude, trade qualified
  • Reliable and motivated self-starter
  • Familiarity with downstream processing, packaging, labelling and transfer systems in a FMCG environment.
  • Flexible and able to understand the need for change and the ability to seize opportunities as and when they occur.
  • A can-do attitude, focusing on the ability to solve problems and find solutions to an ever changing market.
  • Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for fault finding
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills and communication skills
  • Promote and drive a positive customer service attitude
