ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Kyneton, Victoria 

The Claims Officer is responsible for managing lower-risk workers’ compensation claims and coordinating early injury response, first aid, triage, and claims administration. This role ensures compliance with statutory obligations, provides timely support to injured workers, and reduces the administrative burden on Rehabilitation Officers, who remain focused on complex, higher-risk claims.

  • Manage medical-only and short-duration claims from lodgement through to closure.
  • Coordinate onsite treatment, first aid, triage, and escalation to external providers when required.
  • Maintain accurate records in Donesafe (or equivalent system) and ensure compliance with legislative and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and monitor suitable duties programs for lower-risk claims, under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Officer.
  • Liaise with WorkCover Agents, managers, and site/s to support safe and timely
    returns to work.

Experience/Qualifications required:

  • Prior experience in workers’ compensation claims management, HR, or WHS (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation in Victoria (and Queensland desirable).
  • First Aid certification desirable.
  • Proficiency with HR/WHS software systems (e.g., Donesafe, Kronos, or equivalent).
