THE OPPORTUNITY

Location: Birtinya, Sunshine Coast

The Planning Specialist plays a pivotal role in integrating demand and supply planning to drive forecast accuracy, optimise inventory, and support high customer service levels. This role partners closely with Sales, Production, and Operations to translate demand signals into executable supply plans, enabling agile decision-making across the supply chain. By balancing customer requirements with capacity and inventory constraints, the Planning Specialist contributes directly to customer satisfaction, working capital optimisation, and overall business performance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts in collaboration with Sales, using historical data, market trends, and customer insights across red meat product ranges.
  • Integrate demand forecasts into forward production, logistics, and livestock planning to enable efficient, end-to-end supply planning.
  • Translate demand signals into executable supply and production plans aligned with capacity and inventory constraints.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by ensuring future production is allocated and sold, while actively managing unsold or unallocated stock.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to the business to support effective product distribution decisions.
  • Manage and maintain the sales order book to ensure alignment with sales order strategy, data integrity, and accuracy.
  • Oversee sales order engineering processes, including substitution strategies, to maximise sales outcomes and mitigate product availability risks.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service excellence through defined service standards and effective problem-solving methodologies.
  • Provide timely advice to customers on stock movements, shipping schedules, and product specifications.
  • Maintain a detailed communication register for all product movements and customer interactions.
  • Resolve ineffective communication that may result in adverse operational or customer outcomes.
  • Work closely with Sales, Production, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment of planning activities with business objectives.
  • Effectively receive, analyse, and distribute data across departments to support production and logistics planning.

 


ABOUT YOU

  • 3-5 years of experience in demand planning or supply chain planning
  • Prior experience in FMCG, food or manufacturing environments
  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business or related discipline
  • Analytical mindset with whole business thinking, able to conduct forecast reviews by account.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, as well as strong skills as a facilitator to reach consensus, buy-in and commitment.
  • Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • High Level of Microsoft Excel experience
  • Able to provide insight and quickly identify a way forward when presented with challenges.
  • Promote and work to continuously improve systems and process development to best practice.
  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to quickly engage with change.
