THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving quality and food safety standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll have the chance to influence processes, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to delivering high-quality products to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with food safety, customer, and legislative requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying system enhancements using data, problem-solving, and technical expertise.
- Manage non-conformance and corrective action processes, including reporting, tracking, and resolution.
- Coordinate internal audits (GMP, hygiene, fabrication, foreign body, glass) and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure site-wide audit readiness and support external audits and customer visits.
- Oversee product quality processes including inspections, testing, shelf-life assessments, and specification compliance.
- Manage customer complaints and claims, identifying trends and implementing long-term solutions.
- Maintain and control quality documentation, including SOPs and product specifications.
- Support HACCP and Food Safety programs as an active team member.
- Ensure traceability and mass balance requirements are met across all products and processes.
- Provide training, coaching, and day-to-day support to operational teams on quality standards and procedures.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to uphold quality standards.
- Assist in managing pest control programs and site hygiene standards.
- Proactively identify and escalate quality or compliance risks with recommended solutions.
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP and Quality Management Systems.
- Understanding of food safety standards, auditing processes, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with systems such as AusMeat and Halal certification (highly regarded).
- A natural problem-solver with strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and support teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive, accountable, and driven to deliver results and continuous improvement.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to analyse and report on data.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Systems role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Formal qualifications in HACCP, Food Safety, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing Quality Management Systems and compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience conducting internal audits and supporting external/customer audits.
- Exposure to non-conformance, corrective action, and continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with product specifications, testing, and quality documentation systems.
- Familiarity with traceability, mass balance, and food safety standards.
- Knowledge of AusMeat and Halal certification requirements (highly regarded).
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally within operations, supply chain, or production environments.
- Strong reporting and data analysis capability, with intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
